Remail — self-hosted email infrastructure.
Remail is open-source software licensed under the GNU AGPL v3. It is not a hosted service. This copy runs on remail.foo and is operated by whoever administers that host — your agreement about the mail it sends and receives is with them, not with the authors of the software.
Connecting a DNS account
Authorizing Cloudflare or Vercel lets this install publish and check the DNS records a mail domain needs: DKIM keys, SPF, DMARC, a Return-Path subdomain, and an MX record when you turn on receiving. It asks for permission to read your zones and edit DNS records, and for nothing else.
It writes only records that belong to the domains you add here, and only at names it created. An existing DMARC policy, an MX record you already published, or anything else it did not create is reported back to you to resolve rather than overwritten. SPF is merged into a record you already have instead of a second one being published, because two SPF records is a permanent failure for the whole domain.
You can disconnect at any time from the Domains page, or revoke the authorization at the provider. Records already published stay published; removing a domain from Remail deletes the records it created for it.
No warranty
The software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, as stated in the AGPL. Email delivery depends on services and reputations outside anyone's control, and nothing here promises that a given message will arrive.
